Hey Coach

So I get a lot of people that ask me what I do with all my time seeing as how I don't have a 'job'. Generally I now inform them that I am no longer jobless, I am a substitute teacher! Yes it is a real job, maybe not every day, but definitely a real job. It was very very hard to be to the High School by 7 am last week. I couldn't remember the last time I was even out of bed before 7 am, let alone showered, dressed, fed and at a different location other then my house!

Beyond my off and on subbing gigs, I have been continuing to audition for a permanent house husband/stay at home dad gig by cleaning, running my wife's errands, cooking, doing laundry, etc. Oh, and let us not forget moving apartments 3 times in a matter of 2 months... But, by far the best thing I've done over the course of my unemployed days has been being a soccer coach. (although the bad habit of staying up way too late to watch way too much sports, and sleeping in 'til undisclosed hours of the day is a close second)

I have had the wonderful opportunity to coach a bunch of 9-10 year old rascals in soccer over the past two months or so. It has really been quite a treat despite wanting to tie a few of them up or duct-tape their mouths shut every now and again. I had some great players and a really good team altogether. We finished out the season this weekend which prompted us to take a team photo and me to put a little post on the blog.















I gotta say, with the season now over, I'll miss my little fellas. There were a lot of things that were pretty funny and awesome, but I'd have to say the two highlight plays of the season would be #2 A full on bicycle kick to clear the ball on defense. #1 A diving header on the bounce of a cross that went off the side post of the goal. You just don't expect that from 9 and 10 year olds.
