Our very productive neighbor

One of the best things about our apartment building is our across the hall neighbors, the McCorns. Mr. McCorn is a retired vet and he and his wife are very nice. They planted their own flowers in front of our building to make it prettier and Mr. McCorn regularly sweeps the steps so that they are nice and clean. But sometimes, we see Mr. McCorn being very productive with his time and taking care of all of his chores. One day I got home from work to find him painting his entire car with a small paintbrush and a can of black paint.

Today when I got home I found the McCorns had moved their cars from the two handicapped parking spaces that they use and had buckets of water. I didn't think much of it until I looked out the window a few minutes later to find this...

Yep, he was washing the parking spaces with a broom. They must have been dirty and why not wash them up? It makes perfect sense really.

And yes, he often does his chores without a shirt on. Watch out Ryan, you have competition.

Bear Lake & 4th of July

Why does it take me so long to blog about events? Maybe I like keeping people in suspense as to what we are doing with our lives. Maybe I like to relive the events a few weeks later so that I can remember the good times. Maybe it is because when I can't get the spacing and layout right on my posts, as evidenced below, it makes me incredibly angry inside. Or maybe I am just lazy. I will leave it up to each of you to decide.

The week of the 4th of July, we went to Bear Lake with Ryan's family. This is only my second year going to Bear Lake with the Bessey family and I have not been disappointed yet! It was a lot of fun this year. We spent time on the lake and while I was a complete pansy of the freezing cold water this year and didn't do any of the water sports, it was very fun to watch some of the family skiing, wakeboarding and tubing. Maybe next year I will be brave! Here are a couple pictures of my super cool husband.

On the first day out on the lake, I decided to get some color to my pasty white legs. Bad choice. How is it that every time I go to Bear Lake I have a lapse of judgment and forget that the sun at Bear Lake = severe burning?? I can sit out in the sun anywhere else and get a slight burn that turns to a tan within 2 days. Not so at Bear Lake, instead I completely fry my skin and it takes weeks to return to normal. One day I will remember this prior to stepping out into the Bear Lake sun, I am sure of it....

Take note of the towel covering my legs in this picture :)

We got some family pictures taken while we were up there and I am excited to see them. I think there will be some really cute pictures on the beach! The incredibly lady that was our wedding photographer was the one that came up to take the pictures and it was so fun to see her again! Hopefully we will get the pictures soon so I have something else to blog about...

We had a fun time playing volleyball, watching movies, playing the Wii, playing games and really just having a good time.

Zachary's really cool mean/angry face that is more cute than anything else

This is my favorite volleyball shot.

I think my favorite part of Bear Lake this year was riding the rhinos in the mountains. We had a lot of fun.

Old Ephraim's Grave

As we were driving along, I remembered why being in the mountains is so calming. Every few minutes I had to take a big whiff of the fabulous smell that is exclusive to the mountains. Ah, so fabulous. Thank you Bessey family for providing a fabulous vacation yet again!

After spending a perfect week in Bear Lake, Ryan's parents, me, Ryan and Ryan's little brother Cory departed for Idaho Falls for the 4th of July. Ryan and I stayed at my brother's house and it was a party. My sister and her little family were there too so it was a full and fun house. We got there in time for a fabulous dinner and the best neighborhood fireworks around.

On a side note, it is always great to be around my niece Lauren. Not only does she make hilarious facial expressions but she also says things like, "You are really skinny and really tall." Ah, thank you Lauren, I will keep you around for years to come so that you can continue to say such beautiful things.

The morning of the 4th of July, a few of us joined my Hall cousins & Aunt Laurel to run the 5k in honor of my cousin Trevor who is currently serving his 3rd tour in Iraq. He designed t-shirts for us and we all proudly supported our fabulous Trevor, who I seriously look up to. Megs and I stuck together for the race and ran a little and walked a lot. Pregnant Megs can only run so far without looking for a porta potty (which the race sadly lacked) so I sacrificed my time on the race and walked with her...I mean I am sure that I could have run the entire race...he he, not really, I am only a hardcore runner in my dreams. We had a great time talking and then running/prancing across the finish line. The guys at the finish line commented on how cool we were.

We then went to the Rexburg parade so that we could get chocolate milk. It really is the only reason we went and it was completely worth it. Yummy, I love chocolate milk.

That night, we went and saw the incredibly Melaleuca fireworks. If you have never gone to Idaho Falls for the 4th of July, you are missing out and should make the trek next year and you will not be disappointed. The fireworks are incredible! Thank you Troy & Jamie for letting us stay with you and for your children for providing quality entertainment at all times. Meg, Justin, and Andrew, thanks for driving up to see us too.

On Sunday morning, we drove back to Bountiful. Chelsi and Mike blessed their adorable baby boy Daxon and we were so happy we got to be there for it. Daxon looked very handsome!

We had to come back to DC on Monday and back to normal life...always a rough thing!
