Ryan sat on the ice throne.
We participated in frozen cantaloupe bowling on a lane made of ice. Awesome.
We saw live ice sculpting.
We entered the snowman building contest. There was a lack of snow, but the men improvised and we created such an awesome snowman that we won. Okay, so there were two entries and the other entry was the contest organizer. BUT, our snowman was awesome and we feel it would have won regardless of the amount of entries.
We won a $20 certificate to Bubba's Wings. None of us really like wings and had somewhere else in mind for dinner so we did the next best thing...stalked someone in the parking lot of Bubba's Wings and exchanged the certificate for cold hard cash, it's how we roll.
The best part of the day was the results of our trip to the antique store/diner. In Oakland, the two are combined and so we ate and then explored the store. While Trent and Ryan spent their entire time looking at baseball cards, Mandy and I saw a few things we wanted but decided we should wait to make such important decorating decisions.
There was a plethora of Gone With The Wind decorations. It is one of my favorite books.
Just not so sure I could decorate with all these plates without having a plantation style home.
The guys, however, made big purchases. They bought packs of sports cards for $1.25 each.
One of Ryan's packs (circa 1987) came with gum. Read that again...circa 1987 gum. Did Ryan try to eat it? Yes, yes he did. The following is the photographic evidence of the results.
He said it tasted like chalk and spit it out after trying to chew it for a couple seconds. Really? I thought it would have been delicious! Best entertainment of the day!
After leaving the Winterfest, we headed to Cumberland for dinner at the most delicious pizza/Italian restaurant. After stuffing ourselves, we went to a fabulous little cabin that we stayed in for the night. I practiced being matronly in the rocking chair.
Then we watched some show on a girl who got murdered in a park n' ride in California. That combined with a rock hard mattress and an alarm clock set for not one but two times during the night did not create great sleep for this pregnant lady. I really have got to learn to not watch shows about murder before bed...one day I will figure that out.
All in all, the weekend was FANTASTIC and we loved time with the Bowens and all of the fantastic festivities of Winterfest. I cannot wait for the next adventure Mandy finds!
