6 Months Already?

On November 18th, I looked at Ryan and told him there was no way it had already been six months since Jack was born. Then I immediately remembered how when Jack was a few days old I thought that every day was the longest day ever. It goes so fast and it really is amazing we haven't made too many egregious errors so far. This kid might have a chance...

Jack is a truly delightful baby and we count our blessings every single day for having such a great baby. I almost feel bad for any of our future children because they kind of have a lot to live up to.

Jack dropped down to the 25% in weight (16 lbs) and height (26") at his 6 month appointment. But I can still hope that he will get some of the height potential from the Peterson family...otherwise, at least we will have a mighty good looking midget. Which is still okay by me, I adore this kid regardless. Jack has his two bottom teeth, is eating solids and his biggest accomplishment to date is that he is crawling. We suddenly can't leave him in the room unattended or we find him stuck under the coffee table, chewing on power cords, or just wreaking havoc throughout our apartment.

Enough words. Here are some 6 month pictures. We sure love you baby boy.

Cuteness

Our good friend Chance is a fantastic photographer and caught some great photos of Jack. He gave me permission to share them for the good of mankind. Babies make everyone happy but this one in particular makes me really happy with his cute face.

If Jack is really mad, all that needs to be done is for Ryan to let him stand on his hand. Instant happiness appears. I am not even kidding you, instant happiness. It freaks other people out but I have stopped caring if they gasp and shake their head at Ryan because Jack LOVES it. Plus, I really do trust Ryan to not let him fall.

Jack likes to suck on my chin...so weird. He is obviously teething.

He also makes really funny faces and giggles when Ryan blows in his face saying "Windstorm!"

I love this little guy!

Dragons can be really nice

Jack is a dragon for Halloween. Since he is too little for the candy and I will just eat it myself, we won't be trick or treating. But we did take photos of his costume and took him to the ward trunk or treat. He is a mighty cute dragon if you ask us.

5 Months

Jack is 5 months old. What the what? He is a crazy good baby and so funny with his smiles and tricks. He is rolling all over like a master and got his first tooth just yesterday. I am just hoping he takes his sweet time with learning to crawl.

We love his little personality that shows more every day...even when those days are his "diva" days. Jack loves attention so if someone isn't looking at him, he will make it known that he wants attention. Then he will ham it up. Diva. My favorite is when he does his fake cough to get people's attention. If you have ever seen Zoolander, he totally does the black lung cough, cracks us right up. Jack, we love you buddy.

A Family Adventure

Lately, I feel like I spend a lot of time inside or running errands. So boring. Between working from home and keeping Jack entertained, I felt like we needed a family adventure to get out of the house doing something fun. So on Columbus Day (you know, one of those holidays that you only really celebrate when you work for the federal government...), we went to the National Arboretum. We have driven by several times and always said we would go there. We finally went and it is a great place, full of fun and beautiful nature type stuff. The bonsai tree exhibit is pretty dang awesome if you are ever in the area.

Jack loved the time outside and, especially, time with his daddy. This kid LOVES his daddy. He always has a smile for Ryan. I would be jealous but it just seriously makes me so happy to see these two together so I like it.

Jack is too cute in this photo so I am just going to ignore my face in it. You should too.

We love DC so we need to have more Bessey Adventures to explore the places we always say we will go but haven't yet. Maybe on the next federal holiday that no one else gets off.

The Ragnar

Guess what, it's a post about someone other than Jack! He isn't going to be happy that the attention isn't on him...he is getting to be a bit of a diva so we are trying to straighten him out.

Ryan ran the Ragnar a couple of weeks ago and their team totally rocked it! The Ragnar was 197 miles total and they went from Cumberland, Maryland into National Harbor, which is just outside of DC. The Part-Time Models team came in 66th overall (out of 293 teams) and was a team of 12 guys. It was about 36 hours of straight guy time so I am sure that there are all sorts of inside jokes and stories that Ryan could share but I doubt I would think they were funny so I just asked how the race went and called it good. The wives and babes all went to National Harbor to meet the men and cheer them on as the team crossed the finish line. We are proud of you Ry!

I hate it. So naturally, it goes everywhere with him.

Jack's Blessing

A couple of weeks ago, we were able to bless Jack in our ward in Virginia. We were very blessed to have Nanna and Papa Peterson and Grandma and Grandpa Bessey in town for the blessing. We had a lot of fun and Jack was spoiled rotten with so much attention and he ate it up and pulled out all his tricks. Ryan did an amazing job with the blessing and it was a wonderful day!
I had originally planned on putting a tie on Jack to make him look dapper on his blessing day. Alas, his neck is too big to button the shirt up all the way so the tie thing wasn't working so well. But his still looked adorable in his white shirt.
After church we did a little photo shoot with the grandparents. Aren't these folks adorable? We love our parents so much and we are so grateful they made the trip out to join us!!

Then Jack was showing his tricks to the camera. Despite what one of the videos that Ryan posted (and oh weren't the videos generous, you are welcome for sharing Jack) Jack absolutely loves when Ryan lets him balance on his hands. He gets very serious and then laughs and smiles. It calms him down when he is mad unless he is hungry :)

Another Jack trick, he doesn't want to sit. He only wants to stand in any way possible. If we let go of him, he stands for a second and then just tips right over while maintaining his rigid stance.

My awesome mom was so amazing and sweet and stayed with us for the week after the blessing to take care of Jack while I had to go into the office for my first week officially back at work. Being away from Jack was tough but it was a lot easier knowing Jack was in the most capable hands. Thanks Mom!!

VIDEO MONTAGE

I was going through videos and pictures of Jack and decided to do a post with the best of videos showing our little fella growing up. Of course since I'm justifiably biased it turned out to be quite the collection. So kick back and enjoy the show if your heart so desires.

And just to celebrate the beginning of College Football season I guess its appropriate to put this photo up...

GO UTES!!!
